Toddler Program- Ages 16 Months - 32 Months

At this vital stage of development, toddlers are naturally curious, eager to move, communicate, and gain independence. Our Montessori toddler environment is carefully designed to nurture each child’s emotional, physical, and intellectual growth.

We provide a warm and loving atmosphere where toddlers feel safe and confident to explore the world around them. Guided by Montessori principles, our program focuses on key areas of early childhood development:

Boy Playing — Burnsville, MN— Sunrise International Montessori School

Sensory & Perception
Toddlers learn best through their senses. Our environment offers rich, hands-on experiences that help children absorb and make sense of the world.

Physical & Motor Development
This stage is marked by rapid development of both fine and gross motor skills. We offer activities that support movement, coordination, and growing independence.

Self-Help Skills
We encourage children to do things for themselves—such as washing their hands, feeding themselves, and dressing—building confidence and autonomy with every step.

Language & Bilingual Learning
Language development is integrated into every part of the day, with instruction in both English and Spanish. Children are encouraged to express themselves, ask for help using words, and practice polite communication in both languages.

Music, Art & Hands-On Activities
Daily experiences include music, creative art projects, and interactive learning that spark curiosity and support fine motor development.

Outdoor Play & Social Growth
Outdoor time promotes physical well-being and social-emotional growth. It helps toddlers build trust, self-esteem, and positive relationships within a nurturing community.

Potty Training & Developmental Support

Our teachers gently support toddlers through potty training, creating a patient and encouraging environment. We also partner closely with parents to monitor each child’s development, helping to identify any delays early on. When needed, we guide families to appropriate resources—whether through private specialists or local school district programs—to ensure every child receives the support they need.

We must look to the children as a vehicle for bringing change to humanity.
